Local directories have a long history in providing economic and social benefits to both users and advertisers – particularly for small and medium sized businesses.
Research shows that although services are increasingly moving online, Internet and mobile services continue to complement those provided by printed directories. For many, the printed directory remains the principal way to access local goods and services.
The Phone Book is also a founder partner in the Data Publishers Association (DPA) Code of Practice in which publishers commit to ensuring their directories are 100% recyclable at the end of their life.
The DPA Code of Practice sets out precise minimum commitments for all its members, and will give confidence to users, advertisers and the wider community that the social and economic benefits of local directories can continue to be delivered sustainably.
